The Association of Resident Doctors, Usmanu Danfodiyo University Teaching Hospital, Sokoto (ARD UDUTH) hosted its 2025 Annual Dinner, bringing together resident doctors, senior colleagues, hospital management representatives, and invited guests in a night of reflection and celebration. The event provided an avenue for members to unwind, connect beyond clinical settings, and acknowledge the collective efforts of resident doctors who continue to serve diligently while undergoing specialist training. It also served as a moment to celebrate milestones achieved by the Association in advocacy, welfare, and professional development over the year. Speeches delivered during the dinner emphasized unity, teamwork, and resilience, highlighting the critical role resident doctors play in sustaining healthcare delivery at UDUTH. The Executive Council expressed appreciation to members for their commitment and reaffirmed its resolve to continue working towards improved training conditions and welfare. The 2025 ARD UDUTH Dinner reinforced the Association’s belief that strong professional relationships and unity remain essential to excellence in healthcare service.

In keeping with its commitment to humanitarian service and community engagement, ARD UDUTH carried out a 2025 visitation to an Internally Displaced Persons (IDP) camp within Sokoto State. During the visit, resident doctors offered basic medical consultations, health assessments, and health education to camp residents, many of whom have limited access to healthcare services. The team also interacted closely with families, listening to their health concerns and providing guidance on disease prevention and general well-being. The outreach reflected the Association’s belief that healthcare is not confined to hospital walls but extends to vulnerable populations in need of care and compassion. Members of ARD UDUTH also provided relief support, reinforcing solidarity with displaced persons facing difficult living conditions. The 2025 IDP Camp Visitation stands as a testament to ARD UDUTH’s dedication to social responsibility, empathy, and inclusive healthcare delivery.

The Association of Resident Doctors, UDUTH Sokoto, successfully conducted a Medical and Surgical Outreach at the Primary Health Care Centre (PHC), Achida, in Wurno Local Government Area of Sokoto State in 2025. The outreach delivered much-needed healthcare services to residents of Achida and neighboring communities. Services provided included general medical consultations, treatment of common medical conditions, health education, minor surgical procedures, and referrals for patients requiring advanced care. This initiative was aimed at improving access to quality healthcare in rural and underserved communities while supporting primary healthcare services at the grassroots level. It also offered resident doctors a valuable opportunity to engage directly with community health needs beyond the tertiary hospital setting. ARD UDUTH remains committed to supporting community health interventions that promote equity, early treatment, and improved health outcomes across Sokoto State.

As part of its ongoing efforts to promote community health, ARD UDUTH organized a 2025 Free Medical Outreach at Gagi Area, Sokoto, bringing healthcare services closer to residents of the community. The outreach featured free medical consultations, basic investigations, treatment of common illnesses, and health education sessions focused on preventive care and healthy living. Emphasis was placed on early detection of illnesses and empowering individuals with knowledge to manage their health effectively. Community members welcomed the initiative, which helped reduce barriers to accessing medical care and highlighted the importance of preventive health practices. The outreach further demonstrated ARD UDUTH’s role as a partner in public health promotion and community development. Through initiatives like the Gagi outreach, ARD UDUTH continues to contribute meaningfully to improving access to affordable and quality healthcare in Sokoto State.
